Movie Mania Monday - You're dead now, so shut up!

Okay, so I like foreign film. You knew that when you met me, don't act so surprised. And maybe it was cheating on my part, to include a 'quote' that was actually part of the subtitles.

And I love subtitles. Have I mentioned that?

Something I don't like is a Cardinals win on such a blatant unnecessary roughness penalty, ignored by the officials and media alike. True, if it weren't my favorite team, I wouldn't have minded the facemask tackle, either, because that's how I roll. I'll try not to be bitter.

And two weeks in a row, we have a mysterious winner. Nothing wrong with mystery, it's nice to have new guessers, but it would be nicer if we could be properly introduced. Last week, Ms was quite astute in her identification of last week's quote from Bergman's The Seventh Seal. I loved my college film class, but since it wasn't my major, I never continued classes and had to find Bergman on my own. Thank you, cable television!

Welcome now to this week's quote! Remember the rules. First person to guess correctly the original source of the quote wins a prize - no movie characters quoting other movies. No Googling or asking Jeeves, either you know the quote or you don't. The prize is a Major Award and consists of the people's ovation and fame forever (and the title of Iron Quote-Guesser):

I won't report you this time, but next time just watch it, will ya?

Allez guessing!!!

Movie watching was my major in college. Unfortunately I minored in partying, so I used class time to catch up on sleep.

They never even offered me a minor in partying when I went to school. I doubt I'd have passed, but it would have been nice to know the credits were there.

But yes, watching movies in class was just like those substitute teacher days back in elementary school, or the unofficial snow days where only 10% of the kids would show up. I lived for those days!

I would need a hint for today's quiz quote, but I knew the Blog subtitle quote flat.

Mr. Timberlake & I go way back, you see.

I'm in the same boat as Mala - my minor was in tail gating and party hopping. :) The quote sounds familiar, but I'm drawing a blank.

Bev, the subtitle is from my theme song, as bestowed upon me by my then-14-yo niece. It's now a joke that just stuck.

As for the quote, you can't handle the hint!

Okay, maybe you can.

Written and directed by a famous director, though this isn't the film he's known for.

Produced by another famous director, though it's not the film he's known for.

Stars a third famous director, though this isn't the role or film he's known for.

None of them are Steven Speilberg.

The Toad (Charles Martin Smith) in American Graffiti.

By way of intro, I'm long known for my knowledge of obscure movie/music trivia. Actually, I think it's just luck of the draw most of the time.

Congratulations again. If you're into movie trivia, there's plenty more to be had here, I'd recommend Thursday posts, especially.

Be nice and share!
