Similarities between this and a blog are purely coincidental

Not much going on today, so it seems the perfect opportunity to shill for my friend Sarah. Her first book, Dream in Color, is coming out next April, but you can read the first few chapters of her other book here before it gets published. I've known both of these novels since they were random pages in our writers' group, and watched her nurture both through many inceptions.

In addition to 'Dream in Color', Sarah sees so much humor in her everyday life, and is funny and insightful. Go check out her blog.

On a completely unrelated note, I'm thinking of making posole this weekend. Despite the 90+degree weather and 100% humidity, I've really been in a comfort food mood, I'm sure its the stress of it all. Soup, stew, lasagna, potatoes, I'm craving these sorts of things. If it works, I'll post the recipe.

****UPDATE**** I made a variation on the posole with chicken, and it was everything I thought it could be. You should make a batch to enjoy while reading Sarah's blog. After you've read mine, of course.

Posole in 90+ degree weather? You must have really good a/c. I am SO jealous right now. The end of the house that the kitchen is in, gets ridiculously hot. It's practically unbearable to cook in, thank God for barbecues.

Thankfully, the kitchen is one of the closest rooms to the air handler, so it seems to do alright. I do love the grill, I was thinking of throwing the shoulder on to smoke for a little while after I slow cook it, grill some fresh corn for the added sweetness.

Have I mentioned that I'm a food nerd?

You might have..but I haven't made it through all of your archives yet. Just a few more to go.

Since you are food nerd, allow me to direct you to my favorite Food Blog. I can't help but feel his dishes are like works of art..I hope you like it.

Nice blog, thanks. Lori made a nice dill potato salad last week, I may need to do a German-style (mit bacon, of course) this weekend with a nice pot roast instead of posole.

had to google posole... looks seriously yummy.

speaking of seriously yummy... from one stew fan to another, i made a kicka$$ beef stew a couple of weeks ago, flavoured with beer and cloves. unusual, but so good.

Hey Elliott!

Thanks for the blurb, which is my new favorite word...if it is a word. You have been with these books from the start, and you have to know that your comments helped along the way!

BTW, what is posole? If you're making it, it must be yummy, so I'd love a recipe. Not for me to cook, you understand...Tom will make it for me! LOL!

Okay, the posole hasn't happened yet, but it's a beatiful pork stew with hominy, garnished with fresh jalepeno, sliced radishes, cilantro and lime juice. Once I make it, I'll post the recipe and pictures as long as I'm pleased with the results.

Oh, and I love cooking with beer, beef and pork both seem to take very well to it. I haven't tried cloves, but pork loin in a cumin-beer brine rocks.
