Movie Mania Monday - Where did you get those pants

Happy Monday, y'all! Congrats to S.B., who identified last week's quote from Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. How can you not love the 70's with shirts like these?
For that matter, how can you not love shirts like these? Ah, the dense unbreathability of polyester!

Nice weekend, hope each of you had a sappy little valentine's day. Lori and I spent a great weekend together, complete with a Friday date night, rare for us. Tomorrow you'll get to hear all about the Florida State Fair. It's quite the event, a champion's tournament of the deep-fried arts, let me tell you.

For now though, let's fire into the miasma that is Movie Mania Monday. If you're new here, there are some rules. First person to correctly identify the original source of the quote wins the peoples' ovation and fame forever, along with the title of Iron Quote-Guesser. No movie characters quoting other characters, but the original film source. No Googling, no asking Jeeves, no Bing (you'd have to dig him up), either you recognize the quote and know the source, or you wait on the sidelines for your turn. Snarky comments are welcome, but should be accompanied by a guess. This week's quote, an easy one:

"I can handle things, I'm smart. Not like everybody says. I'm not dumb, I'm smart!"

Allez guessing!

I'll guess, but only if you make me an offer I can't refuse!

It's from The Godfather Part II, of course. Fredo wanted respect, dammit!

A caveat... there was a Godfather marathon of sorts on cable this weekend, otherwise I'd be woefully ignorant of this particular line and therefore bereft of the fabulous prizes that await the winners of your Monday Madness games!

I had to take a chance that someone would have seen it. This is the way my cookie crumbles, I come up with a quote and as I start writing the post, the movie comes on. Sometimes I change them, sometimes I leave it be. Congratulations!

Way to go, Ms!

Looking forward to hearing all about the fay-ah tomorrow, E. Glad you had a nice weekend!

Heck, even I knew that one! And yes, enlighten us in the ways of the deep-fried arts. Can't wait to hear.

Ahhhhh, the Florida State Fair. Deep fried pickles, followed by deep fried veggies (and they say you can't eat healthy at the fair!) and finished off with some deep fried Oreos and perhaps a deep fried Twinkie. Mmmmmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Seriously, can they not come up with a deep fried beverage???? I think I'm gonna work on that.

Elliott said...

Oh, Mala, ye of little faith. They've already released the deep-fried beverage, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow.

And the deep-fried Twinkie is heaven, I skipped it in favor of the fried green tomatoes and one of Lori's fried Oreos. (Or should that be 'Oreoes'?)

What?! WHAT?! DEEP FRIED BEVERAGE! You tell me now, Elliott!!!! I can NOT wait!

There better be pictures! And a recipe!

Saw that one LAST NIGHT. Poor, stupid Fredo. It was him (he?) who broke our hearts. RIP, John Cazale. We hardly knew ye.

I made fried pickles tonight just b/c someone mentioned going to Hooters for lunch & then I couldn't get them out of my head. Sadly - accountability is everything - i poured the excess batter in the hot oil & made myself a big ol' hunk a batter patty. It was horrifyingly delicious.

As for my sappy Valentine's Day, my wonderful husband & I went to dinner & then to a movie - "wolfman" - my choice. He lucked out on that one. No chick flicks for me thanks.

Ms, love the fried green tomatoes. You wouldn't know that I spent 85% of my life in Wisconsin. I made 'southern burgers' a while back, seasoned with rib rub, and topped with fried green tomatoes, onion rings, barbecue sauce and corn relish.

Cary, I expected great things from Cazale, sad to lose him.

Tracey, that sounds so wrong, but feels so right. I've never had the fried pickles, one day though...Lori told me Hooter's has been put up for sale, so I'll just have to make them at home.

SB - no comment...

Cue the strange creepy music...I am watching Fried Green Tomatoes as I read this post by coincidence. Of course, now I'm hungry. Lucille's BBQ has awesome fried pickles by the way.

I can't imagine the odds, though I accept that these things happen. After all, how often can I come up with a quote, only to find the movie is on hours later?

Be nice and share!
