Yesterday would have been Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón's 103rd birthday. (Thank you, Google!) And sure, she was a fantastic painter, surreal, edgy - especially for the '40's - and unapologetic. But really, whenever you think of Frida, you think of the unibrow. Admit it.
In particular, I always think of this painting.
Or at least I did. It made me think of Willie Nelson. Now I'll be fighting to keep this one out of my brain:

In other news of the hirsute, this guy just turned down $1 million for solving a
math problem, just because he used another mathematician's work as the basis for his final solution.

And even if she did rock the U.B. she'd still be hot. AAAhhhhnd, with that picture, I have just quadrupled the number of hits this post will receive. Don't you just love math?

Lol - as a fellow uni-brow sporting female (or would be without the miracle of wax) I support Frida. Even if that second painting is more than a little gross. Ewww!
I usually think "Trotsky" when I think of Kahlo, and then I think of Snowball from Animal Farm. And then I think of the dude from Clerks and bacon simultaneously.
But, next time, just for you, I'll think "unibrow" for a moment. And when I do that, I'll think of Fin du Monde.
And then I'll weep a little bit.

Math can be pretty amazing, 'tis true. :-) I like the expression of alarm on the monkey's face. He looks like he may have seen the giving birth painting.
I wish math and I had a better relationship. We are always working on it, though, and that's what matters.
I can't decide which is more disturbing, the unibrow pics or the "what the hell is that popping out of that hoo-ha" picture. Either way, thanks for the help with my diet!

I saw a copy of the book "Frida" this weekend at the library. I instantly thought of unibrows.
While the math is completely lost on me, just for the record, the photo you posted is of Selma Hayeck as Frida. The uni-brow is fake. As far as I'm concerned, "there ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby".
In my opinion, Selma is the most beautiful woman alive, though I've always thought she was too busty and too pretty to play Frida.
PS, I'm well aware that the first shot is Salma. Because as much as I'd like to believe it's the highbrow culture and commentary that keeps people coming back to the CDS, history has shown that it is, in fact, boobies.
But I do love Frida. Many years ago, the Milwaukee Art Museum had a photo exhibition. I don't recall the artist, but he was close to Frida and Diego, so there were many candid shots of them.
And of course Salma's too busty and pretty, but that's the joy of Hollywood.
